Radiesse Fillers Questions and Answers

Dermal fillers, like Radiesse®, are known for producing quick results, but Radiesse has an advantage — you’ll see an immediate improvement in the appearance of your face and hands, and then it also continues to strengthen skin by promoting collagen production. Contact Strax Rejuvenation in Lauderhill, Florida, if you’re ready to diminish wrinkles on your face or improve your hands by restoring volume and making veins less visible.

Dermal fillers are specifically made to diminish facial wrinkles by safely and effectively replacing the natural cushion of fat that normally imparts healthy lift and fullness. These injectable fillers also contain other ingredients that help replace substances lost from the skin over time, such as hyaluronic acid and collagen.

Radiesse is just 1 of the dermal fillers available at Strax Rejuvenation. While they all fight age-related lines, wrinkles, and loss of facial volume, Radiesse uses a unique ingredient to promote long-term collagen production.

What problem areas are treated by Radiesse?

Radiesse dermal fillers target 2 problem areas: facial wrinkles and hands. Radiesse smooths moderate-to-severe wrinkles and folds on the face including:

Smile lines
Marionette lines
Pre-jowl folds
Wrinkles at corners of mouth
Chin wrinkles
When injected into hands, Radiesse restores lost volume and minimizes the visibility of tendons and veins.

How does Radiesse work?

Radiesse consists of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite mixed in a water-based gel. Calcium hydroxylapatite is naturally found in your body, because it’s the substance that builds bones and teeth. The calcium hydroxylapatite used in Radiesse is a man-made substance that’s formed into such tiny, smooth particles that it easily passes through a very narrow needle.

After calcium hydroxylapatite is injected, the solid microspheres serve two functions. They immediately add volume directly under the area being treated, which softens wrinkles and hides veins on hands. Then the microspheres stimulate the ongoing production of natural collagen.

What can you expect during and after treatment?

After determining which area is being treated with Radiesse, your doctor explains the procedure and talks about how to keep you comfortable during the procedure. You may consider a topical anesthetic, but Radiesse can be mixed with lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic that reduces pain from the injection.

You may experience some slight swelling, which typically resolves in 1-2 days. Your doctor may also want you to relax for a few hours before getting back to your daily routine. You may also need to limit chewing gum, laughing, and drinking through straws for a short time. The injected gel is slowly absorbed and the microspheres are very gradually metabolized, yet the effect of Radiesse can last a year or longer.
